BBMSA Coaching Clinic
This year we are considering holding coaching clinics with the assistance of Softball Ontario. These clinics require a commitment by the coaches to attend. At the houseleague coaches meeting the various clinics will be discussed to determine the interest level of the coaches. Clinics being considered are as follows:

Learn to Coach Clinic -- 6 hours
NCCP Context: Community Sport -- Initiation

The Learn to Play Coaches Clinic (NCCP Context: Community Sport-Initiation) is perfect for all T-ball or houseleague coaches for Atom and Mite Divisions. The program focuses on the essentials of fastpitch over one day, placing emphasis on safety, fun, ethics, teamwork, and values beyond the game. Training helps volunteers foster love of the sport, promote participation and teach basic skills to beginners through a variety of activities. No evaluation of a coach's competency is conducted.
This workshop has been designed for the community softball coach who is working with children or youth and is introducing the basic skills of softball (fastpitch). The course will concentrate on the following concepts:
Your coaching philosophy
Making Ethical decisions
Understanding the rules and equipment of Softball
Teaching basic skills of Softball
Modifying a pre-designed practice

Keep Coaching -- 12 Hours
NCCP Context: Community Sport -- On-going Participation

The Keep Coaching Clinic (NCCP Context: Community Sport-On-going Participation) is perfect for all houseleague coaches for Squirt and up Divisions. The program focuses on more advanced skills of fastpitch over two days. Coaches learn to encourage participants of all ages to continue in the Sport for fun, fitness, skill development and social interaction. This training allows coaches to help their players to love softball, learn more skills and continue participation.

Rules for Coaches -- 4 hours
This clinic gives coaches, managers and players the opportunity to discuss rule information and interpretations with a qualified Softball Ontario umpire instructor.

Umpires Clinic
Boys and girls 13 years (born in 1999) or older interested in umpiring for the 2012 ball season are encouraged to call Walid Kaoukdji at (905) 457-4730 to register for this clinic. Participation is mandatory for all umpires. In addition all umpires are required to attend one indoor clinic and one outdoor clinic. Central Public School is located at 24 Alexander Street, off of Main Street, south of Vodden. map - Central Public School
see Winter Events Schedule 2012 - pdf for dates & locations of umpire clinics;

Select Tryouts
Select teams are comprised of houseleague players who are interested in playing in one-day tournaments against other GTA teams. BBMSA hopes to have teams in Mite, Squirt, PeeWee, Bantam and Midget divisions. Select teams will be chosen before house league teams, so please plan to attend if you are interested in playing. Interested coaches should contact Doug MacLean at (416) 230-3584 before January 31st, 2012.
